BETTA Team Selection: SANFL Round 1 v Adelaide

27 March 2024

SANFL footy is set to return for Season 2024 when the Adelaide Crows Reserves head down the express way on Friday afternoon for some Good Friday footy.

The Panthers are poised to introduce a promising cohort of up to eight debutants, headlined by Under-18 Premiership players Noah Howes (Port Noarlunga), Tom Wheaton (Strathalbyn), and Nic Schroder (Willunga), who will make their League debut alongside newcomer Jake Arundell (Box Hill).

Adding to the local flavor, South Adelaide zoned clubs contribute an impressive 13 players to the Panthers' lineup, showcasing the depth of talent within the southern zone.

However, the Panthers have been dealt a tough hand with injuries, sidelining several key players.

Among the absentees are Oscar Clavarino, Kobe Mutch, Ollie Davis, Callum McCarty, and rising star Sid Draper.

Additionally, Ben Shillabeer faces an extended absence due to a foot dislocation requiring reconstruction, likely ruling him out for the entire season.

Furthermore, Tasmanian recruit Tom Beaumont's season has been cut short following an ACL injury sustained during the second trial.

Meanwhile, the Reserves embark on their 2024 campaign against Glenelg.

A highlight is the return of Zac Dumesny, who is set to make his competitive match in over 12 months.

All the action kicks off on Friday morning with the Reserves at 11:30am followed by the League side at the tridional timeslot of 2:10pm.

Tickets are available cheeper online here or at the gate.

Gates open at 11am with around the ground parking available from $5.

For those unable to attend in person, SANFL Now ensures no moment is missed, with matches streamed live or available on demand across all grades.
